Meet Russell
Professional Carpet Cleaning From a Local Expert
Dirt Busters is run by Russell Trowbridge from Bryncethin, just outside Bridgend. He has been cleaning carpets for more than ten years, and he is the person who turns up, inspects your carpet and does the work. There is no call centre and no rotating crew, just one experienced technician who takes pride in every room he cleans.
Every carpet is different. Wool, wool blends, polypropylene, nylon, twists, loops and saxonies all react differently to water, heat and cleaning products. Russell checks the fibre and the condition of the carpet first, then picks the method that suits it: VLM, which uses very little moisture and dries much faster, or hot water extraction for a heavier deep clean of carpets that can take it.
Hot water extraction uses steam from Russell’s own machine rather than water from your tap, and he uses professional products you can’t buy in the shops. He is WoolSafe approved, Cleansmart trained and NJØRD Approved, and has been ThreeBest Rated every year from 2022 to 2026. What’s included
What’s Included in Every Carpet Clean
Whether it’s one bedroom or the whole house, every professional carpet cleaning job follows the same thorough routine.
Pre-clean inspection
Russell checks the fibre type, the backing, any stains and high-traffic areas before he starts, so the method suits your carpet.
Deep vacuum first
A thorough vacuum lifts the dry soil and grit that sit deep in the pile, which makes the wet clean far more effective.
Targeted pre-treatment
Walkways, spots and grubby edges get a professional pre-treatment to loosen ground-in dirt before the main clean.
Stairs and landings
Stair carpets and landings take the most foot traffic in the home, and each tread and riser is cleaned by hand-tool with care.
Spot and stain work
Common marks such as coffee, tea, mud and grease are treated wherever possible. Find out more about carpet stain removal.
Sanitising finish
A final sanitising step leaves carpets fresher and cleaner, which is ideal for homes with children, pets or allergy sufferers.
How it works
How Our Carpet Cleaning Works
Step 01
Inspect and plan
Russell looks at the carpet, its fibres and any problem areas. He then explains which method he recommends and why.
Step 02
Vacuum and pre-treat
A deep vacuum removes loose soil. Stains and traffic lanes are then pre-treated with professional products.
Step 03
Deep clean
The carpet is cleaned using VLM or hot water extraction. Hot water extraction uses steam from our own machine to flush out dirt.
Step 04
Sanitise and finish
A sanitising treatment is applied and the pile is groomed. You can add stain protection to help keep it looking good.
Not sure which method is right for you? Read about our cleaning methods, or ask Russell about carpet stain protection after your clean.

Questions
Carpet Cleaning FAQs
What is the difference between VLM and hot water extraction?
VLM stands for very low moisture. It uses far less water, so carpets dry much faster and can be back in use sooner. Hot water extraction gives a heavier deep clean by flushing the carpet with steam and extracting the dirty water. Russell will recommend the right one for your carpet.
Do you use my tap water?
No. Our hot water extraction uses steam from our own machine rather than water from your tap. That means a consistent, properly heated clean every time.
Can you clean wool carpets?
Yes. Russell is a WoolSafe Approved Service Provider, so he understands how to clean wool safely. Wool can shrink, brown or lose colour if it’s cleaned the wrong way, so it’s always worth using a professional rather than a hired machine.
How much does professional carpet cleaning cost?
Prices depend on the size of the job, the number of rooms and the condition of the carpet. There’s a discount when you book more work, and no upfront payment. Call 07896 492006 for a free quote.
Do you clean stairs and landings?
Yes. Stairs and landings are some of the busiest areas in the home, and they’re included alongside rooms, hallways and lounges. Each step is cleaned carefully with hand tools.
Should I try to remove a stain before you arrive?
If it’s fresh, blot it gently with a clean white cloth and avoid rubbing, which spreads the stain and damages the pile. Don’t use bleach or strong household chemicals. Leave anything stubborn to Russell, as the wrong product can set a stain permanently.
