Carpet Stain Removal That’s Honest About Results
Every stain is different. What it is, how long it has been there and what has already been tried on it all affect how well it comes out. Shop-bought sprays and scrubbing can spread a stain, push it deeper into the backing or leave a sticky residue that attracts more dirt, so the sooner a professional looks at it, the better the chances.
Russell Trowbridge has more than ten years of experience removing stains from carpets across South Wales. He identifies the stain, tests products in a hidden spot, then pre-treats it with professional solutions before cleaning with VLM (very low moisture) or hot water extraction using steam from his own machine. He is a WoolSafe Approved Service Provider, so wool carpets are treated with care.
We will always be straight with you. Most everyday stains come out, but some, such as bleach marks, burns or dye that has bonded with the fibres, may only lighten. Russell will tell you what to expect before he starts. If the whole room is looking tired, a full carpet clean often gives a better, more even result than spot cleaning alone.
- Wine, coffee, tea, mud, grease and makeup

What’s included
Stains We Tackle
From fresh spills to marks that have been there for months, we will remove them wherever possible.
Red wine
Wine stains are treated with products designed for tannins and dyes. The sooner we see them the better, but older wine stains can often be improved too.
Coffee and tea
Hot drinks leave tannin stains that can darken over time. Professional pre-treatment lifts them far more effectively than household sprays.
Mud and footprints
Mud is left to dry, vacuumed, then the remaining soil is treated and extracted from the pile.
Grease and oil
Food spills and greasy marks need a degreasing pre-treatment before cleaning, otherwise they keep attracting dirt.
Makeup and cosmetics
Foundation, lipstick and nail varnish need specialist treatment. Please don’t use nail varnish remover on carpet, as it can damage fibres and backing.
Old and set-in stains
Older stains are assessed honestly. Many can be removed or greatly improved, and Russell will tell you if one is unlikely to come out completely.
How it works
How Stain Removal Works
Step 01
Identify and test
Russell checks the stain, the carpet fibre and anything already used on it. He tests products in a hidden spot to make sure the carpet’s colour is safe.
Step 02
Vacuum the area
Loose dirt is removed so it can’t be pushed into the stain. This also helps him judge the size of the job.
Step 03
Pre-treat the stain
A professional product matched to the stain is applied and given time to work. This breaks the stain down before cleaning.
Step 04
Clean and rinse
The area is cleaned and rinsed to remove the stain and any residue. A clean carpet with no sticky residue is less likely to resoil.

Questions
Carpet Stain Removal FAQs
What should I do straight after a spill?
Blot the spill with a clean white cloth or kitchen roll, working from the outside in, and don’t rub, as rubbing spreads the stain and damages the pile. If you try a cleaning product, test it in a hidden spot first. For wool, silk or delicate carpets, it’s best to call a professional.
Can every stain be removed?
Not always. Most everyday stains come out, but bleach marks, burns and some dyes change the carpet’s colour permanently and can only be improved. Russell will tell you honestly what to expect before he starts.
Should I clean one stain or the whole room?
For a single fresh spill, spot cleaning is often enough. If the carpet is generally dirty, a cleaned spot can look brighter than the area around it, so a whole-room clean usually gives a more even finish.
Can you remove old stains?
Often, yes. Older stains can take more work and may not come out completely, but many can be removed or greatly improved with professional products.
Is it safe to use bleach on a carpet stain?
No. Bleach can permanently remove colour from carpet and damage the fibres. Stick to blotting with water and call a professional for anything stubborn.
How much does carpet stain removal cost?
It depends on the stain, the carpet and how much needs cleaning. There is no upfront payment. Call or text 07896 492006 for a free quote.
