Fresh, not masked
Pet Odour Removal That Gets to the Source
Pet urine doesn’t just sit on top of the carpet. It soaks through the pile into the backing and sometimes the underlay, and as it dries it leaves salts behind. That’s why a smell can seem to disappear after a quick clean, then come back on a warm or damp day. Air fresheners and shop sprays usually cover the smell rather than dealing with what’s causing it.
Russell Trowbridge has more than ten years of experience cleaning carpets and upholstery in homes with dogs, cats and other pets. He finds the affected areas, pre-treats them with professional products you can’t buy in shops, then cleans using VLM (very low moisture) or hot water extraction with steam from his own machine. Finally, the area is sanitised to leave it fresh and hygienic.
Pets love the sofa as much as the carpet, so we treat sofas and upholstery too, along with rugs and mattresses. We will be honest about results: most pet stains and smells can be removed or greatly reduced, but urine that has soaked deep into the underlay over a long time may not be fully treatable from the surface.
- Urine, accidents and vomit treated at the source
- Lingering smells sanitised, not masked
- Carpets, rugs, sofas and mattresses
- Embedded pet hair lifted before cleaning
What’s included
What Our Pet Treatment Includes
Each treatment is matched to the problem, whether it’s one accident or a room that has been lived in by pets for years.
Urine stains
Urine is treated with professional products designed to break down the residue that causes smells, not just the visible mark.
Accidents and vomit
Fresh and older accidents are pre-treated, cleaned and rinsed to remove staining wherever possible.
Smells that come back
Odours that return on warm or damp days are traced to their source and treated so the room stays fresher.
Sanitising
Treated areas are sanitised after cleaning, which is especially useful in homes with young children or other pets.
Pet hair
Embedded hair is lifted out with a thorough vacuum before cleaning, so it doesn’t clog the carpet or sofa fabric.
Sofas and fabric chairs
Pet smells and marks on fabric furniture are treated after checking the fabric care code and testing in a hidden spot.
How it works
How Pet Odour Removal Works
Step 01
Find the source
Russell inspects the carpet or sofa to find every affected area, including ones you may not have spotted. This matters, because one untreated patch can keep a whole room smelling.
Step 02
Vacuum and remove hair
A deep vacuum lifts out pet hair, dander and loose dirt. This lets the treatment reach the fibres properly.
Step 03
Pre-treat and clean
Affected areas are pre-treated with professional products and given time to work. The area is then cleaned using VLM or hot water extraction.
Step 04
Sanitise and freshen
The cleaned area is sanitised to leave it fresh and hygienic. Russell will give you tips on dealing with any future accidents quickly.

Questions
Pet Stain & Odour FAQs
Why does the smell come back after I’ve cleaned it?
Urine soaks into the carpet backing and underlay and leaves salts behind as it dries. Surface cleaning often removes the visible mark but not this residue, so the smell returns, especially when the room is warm or damp. Professional treatment targets the residue itself.
What should I do when my pet has an accident?
Blot up as much as you can with a clean white cloth or kitchen roll, and don’t rub, as rubbing spreads it further. Avoid bleach and strong household cleaners, which can damage carpet and may even encourage pets to go in the same spot again. If you try a product, test it in a hidden spot first.
Can every pet smell be removed?
Most pet stains and smells can be removed or greatly reduced. Where urine has soaked deep into the underlay over a long time, it may not be fully treatable from the surface, and Russell will be honest with you about that before he starts.
Can you treat pet smells on sofas?
Yes. We treat pet stains and odours on fabric sofas and armchairs, checking the fabric care code and testing in a hidden spot first. Find out more about sofa cleaning.
Is the treatment safe for my pets?
We use professional products and sanitise after cleaning. It’s sensible to keep pets out of the room while the work is being done and until the carpet is dry, and Russell will let you know when it’s ready.
How much does pet odour removal cost?
Prices depend on the size of the area, how many spots need treating and what is being cleaned. There is no upfront payment. Call or text 07896 492006 for a free quote.
